Team IDS Gaming made it all the way through the Open Qualifiers into the Critical Ops Autumn Invitational playoff phase.
They were also able to pass the Quarterfinals against Reapers Souls, and that definitely wasn’t an easy series.
We sat down with "Speck" to get a better understanding of his team and their road so far in the Autumn Invitational.
Here are the answers!
Tell us something about your Open Qualifier journey - who was your toughest opponent and did you encounter and close calls during the Qualifier?
To start off the qualifiers, we got an easy win due to another team not showing up.
First, we had a hard match against "N9 Gaming" on Bureau which we managed to win.
After that, both "THMR Gaming" and "Immortals Esports" came up, and we also managed to beat those.
Against "Team Target" it was a lot harder. We entered the match with the mindset of winning it.
In the Quarterfinals, you ended up playing against team Reapers Souls, where you had two close games but you made it happen in the end.
Can you tell us what was your thought process during the series?
We entered with the mindset of winning and we knew it would be hard, but we knew we could also make it.
Both you and "Dr-iZi" had an impeccable performance in the matches.
Do you think this is one of the biggest reasons why you were able to clinch the victory?
Well, I and "Dr-iZi" played well, but we did not play alone.
We had three other players in the team that helped us, so it's not fair that we just get the credit.
Your next opponent is Insanity Killers and they are the favorites.
What would you say your chances are here?
I'm sure it will be a good game, as we've been able to beat them and vice-versa.
The probability of us winning this match is at 50 percent I'd say, so I think both teams have an even chance here.
South America hasn't seen a lot of major tournaments lately.
What does it mean for you to take part in the Valiance events and make it to the Semi-Finals now?
South America has very few opportunities in the competitive scene, even though we know, we train as much as we can.
North America as a region is probably the strongest one.
If you make it to the Grand Finals, do you think South American teams can be on par with the North American ones?
I believe we have a 50% chance against the North American teams.
We’re aware that they’re the strongest region right now in the Critical Ops.
How do you like the format of the event?
I'm really enjoying the format of the event because it's the first official championship that gives any team a chance to participate.
It's a great format for all teams I'd say.
Is there something you want to tell to the South American community?
We honored to be playing an official tournament that has open doors to everyone.
The only thing I ask for is that Critical Force works on the South American server!
IDS Gaming will meet a difficult opponent in the Semi-Finals.
It won’t be easy for them in the next round, but it also wouldn’t be surprising to see them reach the Grand Finals of the Autumn Invitational.
We’d like to thank them for talking with us, and we wish them all the best.
