Team Throne has already left the mark in the European scene, and now they have the chance to even become the champions in their first premier showing.
The only team that stands in their way is Vision Gaming.
To see what’s been happening behind the scene, we had a chat with the leader of the team - DarkSan.
In the interview, we discuss their performance in the Semi-Finals against S2 Gaming, and we also talk about their chances in the upcoming Grand Finals.
In the first map of the Semi-Finals against S2 Gaming, you didn't really match well since they had the control from the beginning all the way until the end of the game. (7:13)
Can you walk us through the game and let us know what issues did you encounter here?
We need to make changes on Canals since our positions against S2 Gaming were not the most ideal.
During the match, we encountered issues as "T-box" had disconnected in some of the rounds.
Our CT side lacked and we got picked almost every round.
We also knew that Canals was not our best map and we focused on both Legacy and Bureau the most.
On Legacy, it was an even fight in the first half of the game, but once you swapped on the Counter-Terrorist side, you showed dominance. (13:9)
Is this something you have practiced and prepared specifically for S2 Gaming or is it just that have a solid team play here on the CT side?
We were pretty confident about the game on Legacy so we didn’t practice it a lot.
However, we still took it really serious by doing an analysis of the map and by creating new strategies.
We already faced S2 Gaming so we kind of knew how they would play the map.
This is the reason our Terrorist side was looking so good.
On the CT side, we had really good chemistry going and all of the players were focused and confident.
In this end, this allowed us to get the victory here.
During the last map of the series, you finally brought your A-Game as you had a 10:2 lead at one point.
S2 Gaming did win some rounds back, but in the end, it was your team winning the series (13:9)
Did you expect it to be this easy on the third map and what's the reason why you were able to be so convincing here?
Honestly, we didn't expect it to be this easy, but once again we entered the match with confidence.
The only map that we had doubts about was Canals, and we know how that ended up.
Since S2 Gaming lost pretty badly to Vision Gaming on Bureau, and we got a victory versus Vision Gaming on the same map, we kind of expected it to go our way.
I think we read them well on the Counter-Terrorist side and this allowed us to close out the match.
Coming into the Grand Finals, you are set to play Vision Gaming.
Do you feel like an underdog and what do you think of them in general?
People that know us don't see us as underdogs in the upcoming match.
Now, we're playing against Tier 1 teams every day and we already showed what we can do.
The only problem for us was the fact that we never played the Valiance event before, and this is our chance to prove ourselves.
I'd say that Vision Gaming is probably the best team right now, but we already did manage to beat them once, so I don't see the reason why we shouldn't be able to do it again.
We're confident about this matchup and we will enter it with a good mindset.
Although it will not be easy, I don't think it's an impossible task for us to get the victory here.
Before this season, nobody really knew about us.
But now, I think people are aware that we can compete against anybody in the scene.
Anything you want to say to the people that will be watching the game?
We are really thankful to the people that supported us since the start, and our message to the people watching is that nothing is impossible.
If you put time and dedication you will reach your goals, both in real life and in Critical Ops.
It’s going to be interesting to see if Team Throne can deliver in their last remaining match for this season.
In our opinion, Team Throne is the underdog coming into the Grand Finals, however, it’s definitely possible for them to win the series against Vision Gaming and claim the title.
We wish them the best of luck and we hope that they will show us some great games once again.
